our (wonderful!) panel speakers:

Melissa Face (moderator) is the author of I Love You More Than Coffee: essays on parenthood. Her writing has appeared in numerous local and national publications, including richmond family magazine, charlottesville family magazine, among others. she teaches world literature at the appomattox regional governor’s school for the arts and technology.

Addie Briggs, m.d. is the co-author of Fitness Dawgs series (the other half is her childhood best friend!) she is a pediatrician and activist committed to combatting child obesity through fitness education.

Allen Edgar Rogers is the author of upcoming picture book Mabee and The Gravy. he is a writer, entrepreneur, and cohost of the podcast known issue, where agreed-upon problems (that have yet to have solutions) explored in an inquisitive way.

Amanda Lynch is the author of My Ancestors’ Wildest Dreams and the mindfulness room. she is a trauma-informed specialist at greater richmond scan (stop child abuse now). she is the founder of rethinking resiliency, a think tank of professionals dedicated to developing skills in children that instill mindfulness and resiliency skills.

Jessica Parham is the author of Good to Be Me. a writer, mom, and advocate, she is a winner of the mom’s choice award. through her new book, jessica wants to encourage parents to have open conversations with their kids about celebrating differences. Her forthcoming book baking up a storm, will come out winter 2021

Valerie James Abbott is the author of Padapillo, a story of a family’s hope and resilience inspired by her own family’s experience. valerie is a parent-advocate, and the co-founder of late onset hearing loss awareness week (may 4-10), an international campaign aimed at improving earlier identification of acquired hearing loss and connection and services to resources.

Zach Daniel is the author of walter and the terrible twister, inspired by his own yellow lab, walter, and the extreme weather he experienced while living in oklahoma. zach is an emmy-award winning forensic meteorologist for wtvr, and appears regularly on cbs 6. he is a member of the national weather association and the american meteorological society and has been awarded the Ams seal of approval.
